The Supplemental Nursing System is designed to enable babies to receive all supplemental milk while at the breast. It allows training of the baby's suckling behaviour and to provide those mothers with breastfeeding who would otherwise be unable to. It offers the following advantages:
- It can be used by mothers who have too little milk or believe they have too little milk
- By sucking directly on the breast, the baby stimulates the mother's milk production
- It trains the proper sucking behaviour of the baby.
The breastfeeding set consists of a container that can be filled with breastmilk or supplemental milk. The thin and flexible tubes are attached along the nipples of the mother, so that additional milk flows during sucking.
